Overview

The Case Viewer feature in Benchly allows you to view detailed case information directly within Microsoft Word. This tool helps verify citations, review case details, and explore referenced case law efficiently.


How to Use the Case Viewer

  1. Click the Case Viewer Button:
    • Select the desired citation in the panel.
    • Click the Case Viewer button on the Benchly ribbon to open case details.

 

  1. Review Case Information:
    • The Case Viewer will display essential details such as the citation, case name, court, and decision date.
    • Use this information to confirm the accuracy of the citation in your document.
  2. Explore Full-Text Opinions:
    • If available, review the case’s full-text opinion directly within the viewer for additional insights.
    • Further information can be found using the Search CaseLaw function. This will open a browser window displaying Benchly’s legal research database for further searching. The user will not need to sign in to access the database.

  • Confirm Citation Accuracy:
    • Use the Case Viewer to ensure citations in your document are correct and match the source.
  • Streamline Research:
