How to Toggle the Highlight Function
Overview
The Highlight function in Benchly allows users to
toggle the visibility of highlighted citations within their document. By
default, Benchly highlights all citations identified during the Find
operation, making it easy to locate and review them. This feature can be
customized for better visibility and workflow.
How to Use the Highlight Function
- Locate
the Highlight Button:
- Open
Microsoft Word and go to the Benchly ribbon. The Highlight
button is located on the ribbon, as shown below:
- Toggle
Highlights On or Off:
- Click
the Highlight button to toggle the visibility of highlighted
citations:
- On:
All citations identified by the Find operation will be highlighted.
- Off:
All highlights will be removed from the document.
- Customize
Highlight Color:
- To
change the highlight color:
- Open
the Settings panel by clicking the gear icon on the Benchly
ribbon.
- Navigate
to Document Options.
- Choose a new highlight color from
the dropdown menu. The selected color will be saved and applied
automatically.
Best Practices
- Improve
Visual Clarity:
- Use
a custom highlight color that contrasts well with your document’s text
for better visibility.
- Toggle
Highlights During Edits:
- Turn
off highlights while editing to avoid distractions and toggle them back
on to verify citations.
- Retain
Highlight Defaults:
- Keep
default highlights active until the document review is complete to ensure
all citations are reviewed.
Troubleshooting
- Highlights
Not Showing:
- Ensure
the Highlight button is toggled on.
- Verify
that Benchly has completed the Find operation for the document.
- Highlight
Color Not Changing:
- Double-check
the selected color in the Document Options settings.
