Editing Citations in the Found Authority Panel

Overview

The Edit Citation function in the Found Authority Panel allows you to make adjustments to identified citations without modifying the text in your document. This feature ensures that citations are correctly formatted and categorized for inclusion in the Table of Authorities (TOA).

How to Edit a Citation

  1. Open the Found Authority Panel:
    • Click Review on the Benchly ribbon to display the Found Authority Panel.
  2. Locate the Citation:
    • Scroll through the list of identified citations to find the one you want to edit.
  3. Edit the Citation:
    • Double-click on the citation text in the panel.

b)      Clicking on the checkbox in the citation will not open the edit box.

    • Make the desired changes to the citation text in the dialog box:

  1. Save Changes:
    • Click Save to keep the changes. The updates will be reflected in the TOA but will not alter the citation in the body of the document.

Best Practices

  1. Review Before Editing:
    • Verify the accuracy of the citation in the document before making edits in the panel.
  2. Focus on Consistency:
    • Ensure that all citations are formatted uniformly according to your selected Style Manual.
  3. Check Categorization:
    • Confirm that citations are placed in the correct sections to maintain a properly organized TOA.
