Using the Account Function

Overview

The Account icon in Benchly provides access to user-specific information, license details, and key support features. This dialogue box also allows users to manage their account settings, reset preferences, and enable advanced logging for troubleshooting purposes.

Features Available in the Account Dialogue Box

  1. Change Account:
    • Log out of Benchly and switch to a different account.
    • Useful when multiple users are working on the same system or if account details need to be updated.
  2. Reset to Defaults:
    • Clears all saved settings associated with Format Profiles, leaving only the default profile intact.
    • This does not affect the document or any existing Benchly operations.
  3. Technical Support:
    • Opens the Benchly Support Desk portal directly in your browser.
    • Submit support tickets, ask questions, and check the status of previously submitted tickets.
  4. Enable Trace Logging:
    • Logs user actions within Benchly to a text file for troubleshooting.
    • When enabled, the file location is displayed in File Explorer, allowing users to save and send the file to the Benchly Support Team for bug identification or ticket resolution.
    • Best Practice: Enable logging only at the request of the Benchly Support Team.

How to Access the Account Features

  1. Click the Account icon on the Benchly ribbon.
  2. A dialogue box will appear displaying:
    • License Information
    • Current Benchly Version
  3. Use the available buttons for account management, resetting preferences, or accessing support tools.

Best Practices

  1. Enable Trace Logging When Necessary:
    • Turn on logging only when instructed by the Benchly Support Team to diagnose issues effectively.
  2. Reset Profiles Before Sharing:
    • Reset Format Profiles if you need to share Benchly settings with another user or start fresh.
  3. Stay Updated:
    • Regularly check the Technical Support portal for updates, FAQs, or ticket resolutions.

Troubleshooting

  • Lost Format Profiles:
    • If profiles are mistakenly reset, reconfigure them in the Format Profile dropdown under the Settings tab.
  • Logging Not Working:
    • Verify the file location provided after enabling logging. Ensure you save and share the log file with the support team.
