Using the Account Function
Overview
The Account icon in Benchly provides access to
user-specific information, license details, and key support features. This
dialogue box also allows users to manage their account settings, reset
preferences, and enable advanced logging for troubleshooting purposes.
Features Available in the Account Dialogue Box
- Change
Account:
- Log
out of Benchly and switch to a different account.
- Useful
when multiple users are working on the same system or if account details
need to be updated.
- Reset
to Defaults:
- Clears
all saved settings associated with Format Profiles, leaving only
the default profile intact.
- This
does not affect the document or any existing Benchly operations.
- Technical
Support:
- Opens
the Benchly Support Desk portal directly in your browser.
- Submit
support tickets, ask questions, and check the status of previously
submitted tickets.
- Enable
Trace Logging:
- Logs
user actions within Benchly to a text file for troubleshooting.
- When
enabled, the file location is displayed in File Explorer, allowing users
to save and send the file to the Benchly Support Team for bug
identification or ticket resolution.
- Best
Practice: Enable logging only at the request of the Benchly Support
Team.
How to Access the Account Features
- Click
the Account icon on the Benchly ribbon.
- A
dialogue box will appear displaying:
- License
Information
- Current
Benchly Version
- Use
the available buttons for account management, resetting preferences, or
accessing support tools.
Best Practices
- Enable
Trace Logging When Necessary:
- Turn
on logging only when instructed by the Benchly Support Team to diagnose
issues effectively.
- Reset
Profiles Before Sharing:
- Reset
Format Profiles if you need to share Benchly settings with another user
or start fresh.
- Stay
Updated:
- Regularly
check the Technical Support portal for updates, FAQs, or ticket
resolutions.
Troubleshooting
- Lost
Format Profiles:
- If
profiles are mistakenly reset, reconfigure them in the Format Profile
dropdown under the Settings tab.
- Logging
Not Working:
- Verify
the file location provided after enabling logging. Ensure you save and
share the log file with the support team.
